Greek Cup draw gives Olympiacos a Cretan task
By: Peter Katsiris | November 20th, 2008
As you are likely aware of, the Greek Cup draw was completed by the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) on Wednesday. Olympiacos was handed the task of taking on Cretan club OFI in the Round of 16. The match, a one legged playoff, will be played at the Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion - meaning Olympiacos will need to erase any road jitters and grab a decent result.
The pair already met in Crete this year, but a poor performance by the defending Super League and Greek Cup Champions saw the match end in a scoreless stalemate. With the Greek Cup allowing a replay in this round, the match which is to be played at sometime in January 2009 could also end in a scoreless draw.
The date of the fixture with OFI will be officially revealed at a later time, but the EPO has allotted January 14th, and January 21st as the possible dates. A replay will be strictly limited to January 28th.
The Full fixture list for the Round of 16 is as follows:
Ergotelis vs Skoda Xanthi
Veria vs Panionios
Panthrakikos vs Panathinaikos
Panserraikos vs Larissa
PAOK vs Aris
OFI Crete vs Olympiacos
AEK Athens vs Kerkyra
Asteras Tripolis vs Iraklis
