Xronia Polla Olympiakara Mou!
By: Peter Katsiris | March 10th, 2009On this day, March 10th, 1925, the tremendously successful sporting institution known as Olympiacos CFP was founded. Olympiacos fans might not have felt in a cheerful mood on this night as European play resumed in Athens with Panathinaikos taking on Villarreal in the round of sixteen in the Champions League.
Nonetheless, gifts usually cheer people up; well, sometimes. Being a busy guy, I never got a chance to buy Olympiacos a gift for this special occasion. Villarreal, however, took care of the gift exchange with a slick 2-1 win over Panathinaikos on Tuesday night to oust the Vazelia from European competition with a 3-2 aggregate win. Like Chris Paraskevas did over at the AEK Blog, it’s pretty sweet to rejoice in your rivals’ failures.
So let’s cap today’s ceremonies with the traditional song known a ‘Happy Birthday’…
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Olympiacos!
Happy Birthday to you!
XRONIA POLLA OLYMPIAKARA MOU!
Nice little video inserted featuring the Greek Rap group Goin’ Through and their single Gine Olympiacos…
PS. Chris Pavlakos, our inside man, has chatted with me the past few days, and posted several pictures of his Greek journey. He`ll be attending Olympiacos’ weekend fixture against Iraklis, but he should be around to give a nice summary of his events.
