And we’re back…
By: Peter Katsiris | October 17th, 2008
After a somewhat disappointing week of international football at the Georgios Karaiskakis, Olympiacos returns to the limelight; the Piraeus club begins a tough streak of matches, which could ultimately shape the remainder of ‘O Thrylos’ season. All players have returned to the Olympiacos training grounds from their respective national teams; but if they can find the exact chemistry which sent Piraeus into pandemonium in recent weeks could be a challenge.
After toppling rivals AEK two weeks at home, Olympiacos will look to rekindle that momentum as they continue to fend off their closest rivals from the Greek summit. Currently maintaining their normal rank of first among Greek rankings, Olympiacos look poised to continue their success; however, stubborn opposition might cancel potential deliveries of success.
The Greek Champions will look to retain – if not further – their position atop the Greek Super League standings as they host promoted club Panthrakikos at Karaiskaki on Sunday. Surely Olympiacos is favoured to collect maximum points; however, the visitors shouldn’t be taken lightly after they upset Panionios on the preceding matchday.
Only four days later, Olympiacos begins its UEFA Cup Group Stage schedule with a trip across the Aegean Sea to Turkey for a reunion with Turkish Champions Galatasaray. It is expected the ‘Eruthroleuki’ will have a challenging week, as the “war” shifts to multiple fronts.
With so much excitement and anticipation surrounding the Karaiskaki club, the next seven days should keep everyone entertained.

Hi Peter,
I follow Olympiakos closely because players like Luciano GALLETTI and Fernando BELUSCHI. As an huge fan of Argentina, I’m happy both doind well in Greece. I hope they can help to conquer domestic scene as I believe your club is out of the Champions League.
During the weekend, GALLETTI was outstanding again scoring both goals. Would appreciate if you drop to share us your thought about his performance and an overall view on the game.
For your info, I also follow the Greek Basketball league closely too. I believe your team has this huge players whose nickname is Baby Shaq. Right.
