Belluschi blow for Olympiacos
By: Peter Katsiris | February 24th, 2009
Following their second defeat of the Greek Super League schedule, and second in consecutive fashion, Olympiacos received another dose of bad news to start a crucial week for the Greek Champions.
Didier Domi and Fernando Belluschi, who was absent during his side’s 1-0 loss at Ergotelis over the weekend, has been ruled for three weeks. The French fullback and his Argentine team-mate both underwent scans on Monday, and the results revealed a semi-severe muscle strain.
A three-week recovery period is expected; meaning both Domi and Belluschi will be unavailable for several crucial matches for Olympiacos. Their side travels to France for what could be their ultimate match in the UEFA Cup, as Saint-Etienne holds a 3-1 aggregate lead on the ‘Erythrolefki’.
Other games include the eternal derby with Panathinaikos, and a double date with PAOK in the Greek Cup and the Super League.
Galletti still sidelined
Already discovering Luciano Galletti would be unavailable for the return leg in France, there is added bad news that the club’s leading scorer will also miss Sunday’s derby at the Giorgos Karaiskakis Stadium. On the bright side of what is a gloomy standpoint for the club at the moment, Sebastian Leto is expected to be ready for action against Saint-Etienne.
