Hannover hung up on Zewlakow

Germany’s Hannover 96 is the latest outfit to be interested in the services of Olympiacos defender Michal Zewlakow. The Poland international was originally linked with a move to Scotland with Celtic FC, but reports from Germany have linked the 32-year-old with a move to the AWD-Arena.
The Polish defender has not enjoyed much first team action since Olympiacos picked Avraam Papadopoulos from Aris FC in the summer. Once a routine regular in the Olympiacos defense, Zewlakow has made only a handful of appearances for Olympiacos since Ernesto Valverde took over in Piraeus during the offseason.
His limited playing time has come through cup appearances and injuries to Olmypiacos’ main core of central defenders, which includes Papadopoulos and Paraskevas Antzas.
The German press is reporting Zewlakow is being courted by Hannover manager Dieter Hecking, who has been forced to import another central defender after regular center-back Vinicius went down to injury ahead of the Bundesliga winter break.
A move to the Bundesliga may be favourable for Hannover, and might give Zewlakow a boost in appearances, but it is unlikely that the Pole will leave the Giorgos Karaiskakis Stadium during the winter transfer window.
