Leonardo sidelined for 15 days
By: Peter Katsiris | December 16th, 2008
There was plenty of optimism at the Olympiacos ranks on Tuesday, as the club received news that Leonardo will be sidelined for only 15 days. The Brazilian was expected to be out for much longer than the two-week absence he was diagnosed with on Tuesday, but the club was welcoming to otherwise which could see the former Portuguesa return to the squad after the winter break.
Leonardo was submitted to an MRI and an ultrasound on Monday, and the scans showed the fracture suffered was fully healed. Hip tendonitis and fatigue are now the only obstacles sidelining one of Brazil’s highly rated prospects.
With fifteen days until his expected return, Leonardo will definitely miss Thursday’s final UEFA Cup group stage encounter with Hertha Berlin, and Sunday’s domestic fixture against Thrasyvoulos. The club will be optimistic to have Leonardo back to full fitness for the first match of the New Year on January 3rd against Asteras Tripolis.
