Lyon link continues to linger for Torosidis

French Champions and Champions League competitors, Olympique Lyonnais, are once again part of speculation regarding the future of Olympiacos defender Vasilis Torosidis. Previously part of a rumor linking Torosidis with a move to the Stade Gerland, it appears the Ligue 1 Champions and leaders are ready to submit another bid for the Greece international.
French newspaper Progress revealed the rumors, but also stated Torosidis is at the top of Lyon’s shortlist. “Lyon coach, Claude Puel, has called for the reinforcement of his defense which has struggled at the extremities so far this season. At the top of the list is Olympiacos’ Vasilis Torosidis, but also on the club’s radar is Valencia’s Miguel and Barcelona’s Eric Abidal.”
The speculation comes just one week after Torosidis announced he wanted to remain an Olympiacos player, but that declaration has had little respect from Europe’s biggest clubs as just days after that Celtic also announced their interest in Torosidis.
The list of buyers continue to grow for one of Greece’s prodigal defenders, as the likes of Atletico Madrid, AS Monaco, Juventus, Blackburn, Newcastle, Lazio, Celtic and now Lyon continue to chase the talented wingback.
