New Kits to be Unveiled on Sunday

By: Peter Katsiris | July 16th, 2008

The kits which will be worn by Olympiacos players throughout the 2008/2009 season will be unveiled by club officials and several players this Sunday, July 20th. As usual great speculation as to what the kits will look like has circulated among Olympiacos fans alike. Photo-shopped kits have been the main source of interest for fans looking for a sneak peak to the Eruthroleuki kit. PUMA is once again the kit supplier, despite recent calls by the fans to discontinue PUMA as the kit maker. Vodafone will once again be the main sponsor, and the company logo will be featured across the chest of each kit. Last year, Olympiacos had 4 kits ranging in design: the home jersey with the traditional red and white stripes, the away jersey, the 3rd kit, and the fourth kit which was hardly ever used.

It is rumored that this year’s kits will resemble the one which was worn two years ago; something that is upsetting many fans. However, some Olympiacos fans have taken the initiative to create the 2008/2009 Olympiacos jersey based on PUMA designs seen at EURO 2008. Designs range from the kits of the respected national teams of Italy, Switzerland, Poland and the Czech Republic.

With the anticipation over the unveiling of the club’s new kits, the sense that fans wish the club would sign a sponoship deal with either Adidas, or Nike. A move that seems far off now, and leaves fans salivating in the presence of kits of: PSV Eindhoven, or Chivas USA.

yah that kit had issues, but was it the one from two years ago? or was it this one: http://www.oldfootballshirts.com/img/season_shirts/thumbnails/football_shirt_6436_1_500×400.jpg????
That one is from the 2005/2006 season.

Gilberto Silva is a good player but I think since he is Brazlian he is highly overrated. It is a big move for Panathinaikos and I am sure we will see plenty of Mr. Silva this season. With that being said, there is still the chance for Olympiacos to swoop in with a ‘bam’ signing of their own. A striker is what’s needed, so hopefully the management can come through with a move fill the gap in the attack.

I kind of like the fourth kit from last year. Too bad it never got used.
