Olympiacos capture Avraam
By: Peter Katsiris | July 4th, 2008
No it’s not Avraam Grant (thank God!). Instead it’s 24 year old Greek defender Avraam Papadopoulos from Aris FC. After months of negotiating the Piraeus club was able to finalize the contractual concerns and have Papadopoulos himself put pen to paper.
Papadopoulos himself was keen to move to the Greek champions, but a late bidding interruption by Olympiacos’ capital rivals Panathinaikos, stalled the transfer. However, a change of heart by PAO, saw the Piraeus club the only ones bidding for the Greek starlet. Despite being the only choice, the transfer fee for the Greek youngster was greater than the original intentions of Olympiacos managment. The transfer fee agreed on by the two Greek Super League clubs tallies up to a value of 2.5 million euros. This is Olympiacos’ fifth transfer of the season, as Avraam Papadopoulos joins Giannis Papadopoulos, Giorgos Galitsios, Oscar Gonzalez, and Pavel Kovac. More transfers seem inevitable as the squad has many holes ahead of the 2008-2009 season.

Richard,
The Hellenic Football Federation(HFF, aka EPO) has not held the draw for the fixtures of the 2008-2009 Greek Super League. I believe this will be done by mid-August at the latest.
PS. You are not the only one looking forward to that grudge match.

Apokalupto and Richard I posted on the draw arrangement just recently. It’s available on the main page. It includes the date and time (in English) and a few other interesting facts.
