Olympiacos in Crespo chase
By: Peter Katsiris | July 8th, 2008
It is reported that the Greek Champions are in a chase for the Argentinian striker. Recently released by Chelsea, Hernan Crespo is currently a free agent. It is reported that Crespo is one of the many targets set out by the Olympiacos management; however, the Greek club isn’t the only one in wanting of the Argentine’s services.
A recent report out of Argentina states that Buenos Aires club, Independiente, want to see Crespo return to his homeland. The Argentine club is banking on the striker’s ambitions to return to Argentina and boost his chances of making the 2010 World Cup squad. Money wont be a factor as the club is prepared to slap out the cash for the prolific poacher.
If Olympiacos have any chance of acquiring Crespo’s services, club President Sokratis Kokkalis must dish out the cash, and lots of it. It was recently reported that Crespo cost Chelsea 1 million pounds per game during his stay at Stamford Bridge. It is obvious he cannot expect that same payout in Greece; but for Olympiacos’ sake, the offer better be attractive.

Crespo would do wonders in Greece, but I wonder if he would actually come. Im sure many clubs are going to want him.

I agree, funny thing is that Independiente are linked with an Olympiacos player: Leonel Nunez. If we can offload Nunez and fill the void in Independiente maybe the need for Crespo will be a forgotten dream for Independiente… but I doubt it. However, Nunez might be sold if the price is right.
