Olympiacos interested in Inter’s Materazzi
By: Peter Katsiris | April 17th, 2009
The summer transfer may be a long ways away, but that hasn’t stopped Olympiacos from browsing the field of potential transfers according to the Greek press. In reports originating out of Greece on Wednesday, Inter Milan’s Marco Materazzi is one of the high-profile stars targeted by club president Sokratis Kokkalis.
The reports indicate Olympiacos are interested in another central defender as Paraskevas Antzas is expected to retire at season’s end. Materazzi appears to be the number-one choice for the Greek Champions, while supporters salivate over the possibility of the controversial World Cup Winner arriving in Piraeus in the summer.
While his legacy holds more controversy due to his involvement in the “head butt heard ‘round the world”, Materazzi would form a solid partnership with Avraam Papadopulos.

dont forget that he’s 35 years old and is asking for 2.5 million euros per season (AT LEAST) to think about moving. and olympiakos has already made an offer of 1.5 million and he hasn’t budged.
Hes too old. Once we buy him we’ll get rid of him in a year. They should get someone younger.

Bob — you are absolutely correct. Olympiacos supporters will have to control their excitement over the possible addition of Materazzi. There are plenty of other players out there. The worst case scenario could see Avraam Papadopoulos and Kyriakos Papadopoulos team up in the starting eleven.
