Barclays Premier League club Blackburn Rovers, has expressed serious interest in Olympiacos defender Vassilis Torosidis, and have offered the Greek Champions an offer rumored to total 6 million euros. Several English newspapers have reported that the Blackburn management are keen to land the 23-year old Greek international.
An offer of 4.5 million euros for Torosidis was rejected by Olympiacos last week, but it is reported that Blackburn has offered a much higher bid for the Greek starlet. Reports from Greece last week that Spanish club Atletico Madrid had also made an offer for Torosidis. Many clubs were rumored to be scouting Torosidis throughout the past season. Newcastle United, Olympique de Marseille, Juventus and AS Monaco were all rumored to have scouted Torosidis.
Despite the great interest, it remains to be seen if Olympiacos is prepared to sell Torosidis who is expected to pay a critical role in the club’s success. After losing Lomana Lua Lua and Leonel Nunez to sale in the transfer window, the club already has holes to fill. With a bank balance prospering with the high money sales, the club has money to splash at their transfer targets. However, the additional sale of Torosidis could add an edge for Olympiacos in the transfer market.
